Since making several generations of iPhone the quality of the video has increased considerably to the point of being able to record videos in 4K. However, it is very likely that this is not what you need, or yes. There is no doubt that each user is different and that is why we must choose the right quality of video recording on our iPhone.

The iPhone of recent years have a powerful video camera that can record in various qualities. The quality is directly related to the space that will occupy the video in our internal memory, so if you have few free GB it is best to reduce the quality of the video.

You choose the quality of video with which you record your iPhone

All iPhone models are capable of recording in different qualities, however only the latest models can record in 4K . These are all the possibilities and qualities of recording offered by iOS, your iPhone can be compatible with all or just some:

  • 720p HD at 30 fps
  • 1080p HD at 30 fps
  • 1080p HD at 60 fps
  • 4K HD at 24 fps
  • 4K HD at 30 fps
  • 4K HD at 60 fps

As we have said, the quality of the video affects the space it occupies. One minute of video at 720p HD at 30 fps will occupy 40 MB and one at 4K HD at 60 fps approximately 400 MB .

Once we have seen the different recording qualities offered by iPhones, and iPads, we will see how we can choose one or the other. Apple does not make it easy and these settings are not available in the camera app , so we’ll have to configure them from the device settings.

  • We go to the iPhone Settings app .
  • We go down to the Camera section .
  • Inside click on Record video .
  • We will see the options that we discussed before.
  • We choose the one that suits us best.

As we can see it is quite simple to change the video quality in iOS, you just have to navigate through the settings. As a recommendation, if you only record videos to upload to social networks, with 1080p you’ll have quality to spare . If you record videos, then watch them on TV, even if you prefer to use 4K quality.
