Sony makes some pretty excellent Android phones with, say, “optimistic prices.” Not that they are too expensive, but like HTC, the company tends to approach Samsung and Apple
Prices without the same marketing budget.
However, on Black Friday, everything changes, and Sony has cut prices on several of its best phones.
Crop cream is this offer on the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact in Giffgaff. For £ 299, you get a phone that includes the latest Snapdragon 845 processor as the full-size version and almost all the most iconic Android devices on the market. That makes it a kind of theft, considering that the OnePlus 6T is our normal value option from Snapdragon 845 to £ 499. Better yet, it comes with a pair of Sony WF-1000x noise-canceling wireless headphones that are sold retail from £ 180 apparently.
Here is a small caveat: you need to buy a Giffgaff SIM at the same time if you do not have one. The cheapest of these is £ 10, and it can be canceled immediately, so you’re seeing a total of £ 309. Still a steal for a phone with a RRP of £ 529.
If the Compact is too small for you (and it’s worth remembering that, with 5 inches, it’s only slightly smaller than the original Galaxy
), there are other options available. The longest 5.7in Xperia XZ2 is available for £ 449 on Amazon
, for beginners. This has the same internal components, including Snapdragon 845, but a higher resolution to compensate for the larger screen.
Both, unfortunately, have abandoned the 3.5mm headphone jack. If you want that, you’ll have to drop a generation, and the Xperia XZ1, still very powerful, is also reduced and can be had for only £ 219 .
Finally, there’s the 6-inch XA2 Ultra at £ 199, less than £ 379 at Giffgaff. It’s a mid-range we liked a lot when we reviewed it earlier this year. As Ed said at the time: “There is very little that can be done with the XA2 Ultra, it’s great to look at, the back camera produces pictures and videos of excellent quality, and it has a really strong battery. your smartphone, those are three of the most important boxes marked, especially for a mid-range phone, where you can not necessarily have everything. “
These are solid offers throughout the year. My choice is still the XZ2 Compact with free headphones, but your mileage may vary.
