Apple’s iPhone is the flagship of smartphones. Millions of people worldwide wait annually for the release date of the company’s brand new model or model. The company carries out stringent quality controls to ensure that the smartphone functions flawlessly in every condition. To get this status, Apple makes sure that the phone is not equipped with any third-party components. Every hardware change on the phone causes error 29, which makes the phone inoperable. This article provides information about how to fix the bug.

What is the iPhone Error 29?

It’s common for people to see Error 29 on their iPhone when they’re exchanging a hardware component. The important fact is that the error appears when changing the battery and the screen. The error occurs when a user restores the device or upgrades to a new iOS after the hardware component has been swapped. Nonetheless, there is a possibility that the error will appear even if the hardware has not been replaced at all. This is due to a software error. Before you get the phone to an Apple service center, it’s a good idea to try the following 5 solutions to fix error 29.

Solution 1: Install a new battery correctly to fix iPhone Error 29

The recent replacement of the battery could be a cause of error 29 when restoring or updating with iTunes. It is important to replace the battery with an original part and then restart the recovery / upgrade process completely from iTunes to fix the problem.

  • Turn off the device by pressing the power button for a few seconds.
  • Remove the two screws on the bottom of the iPhone using the Philips screwdriver number 00.
  • Slowly push the flashback upwards and lift it off.
  • Remove the single Philips screw that secures the battery connection to the motherboard.

Use a plastic puller to lift the connection. The iPhone 4S has a contact clip at the bottom. You can remove it or just leave it there. Note the attachment.

Use the plastic strip to pull the battery out of the phone. It takes some effort to get the glued battery out of the phone.

  • • Before inserting the new battery, make sure that the contact clip is in the correct position. Screw the clip to the battery to make sure it is in place.
  • • Put the backplate back in place and screw the housing to the bottom with the two screws.

Solution 2: Keep the antivirus application up-to-date

There is a chance that an out-of-date antivirus program on iPhone will cause error 29 to display when you update using iTunes. It is common for iTunes to issue error 29 if the database of the antivirus program is outdated. If the phone experiencing the error has an antivirus program, it is necessary for the user to first update the antivirus program through the iTunes Store. After the update, it is important to restart the device and check if the device is causing the error again. If iTunes still displays error 29, it is advisable to uninstall the antivirus program.

Solution 3: Problem with iTunes software update

It may well be that iTunes itself causes the error 29 on the iPhone. Resetting to factory defaults or updating the software requires that the latest version of iTunes be installed on the computer. For an outdated iTunes, it is difficult to detect hardware changes on the iPhone. Upgrading from iTunes to the latest version may fix error 29.

Click on the Apple menu and select “Software Update”.

Look for an iTunes update.

Choose when to update the software.

Take a look at the available updates again.

Agree to the license terms.

Install the update for iTunes.

Solution 4: Update the computer operating system (time-consuming)

Older versions of the computer operating system are often unable to perform the most recent software updates. This causes a conflict between the platforms, which leads to faulty communication between iTunes and iPhone and thus to error 29. Keep the computer and other applications up-to-date. Install the latest version of Windows or Mac OS.

Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen and choose Software Update.

The Apple Store opens and displays the available updates. Agree to the license agreement to begin downloading and installing the update.

  • • Let the installation finish the whole process. Do not restart the system in the middle of it.
  • • Connect the iPhone and start the recovery or update as before. This time no error 29 should be displayed.

Solution 5: Reset to factory settings (data loss)

If any of the above methods fail, the last resort of choice is to reset the iPhone to factory defaults. The process may not completely eliminate the error 29, but it is helpful to try it. After resetting to factory settings clears all contents on the iPhone, it is advisable to create a backup beforehand.

1.Open iTunes select “Check for Updates”. If you are using the latest version, continue to connect your iPhone. Click “Back Up Now” to back up the existing data on the phone.

2.Restore the phone by clicking the “Recover iPhone” button in the iTunes overview window. In the following window, select “Restore” to complete the process.
