Complete set and appearance of Xiaomi Redmi Go

The gadget comes in a nice white cardboard packaging. Inside, the owner will find:

  • smartphone itself;
  • two-way USB / micro USB;
  • network adapter;
  • a clip to remove the tray with SIM-cards;
  • operational management;
  • warranty receipt.

There are no headphones or a simple silicone case. You could say, saved on everything, but it’s not scary.

Smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Go is available in two colors:

  • completely black;
  • black front blue back.

The device is quite compact. Its dimensions are 140.4 x 70.1 x8.35 mm, and its weight is only 137 grams. In general, such a “miniature” gadget is quite expected (this is not a modern flagship “tile”). The belonging of the smartphone to the budget segment gives a lot of factors:

  • Matte plastic case that quickly collects prints on itself;
  • just huge frames around the display;
  • one main camera;
  • the absence of even a simple fingerprint scanner.

At the same time, we noted some pleasant general points. First, the hull is monolithic. Otkovyryat cover, as in the old Samsung model 2010-2011, you can not. The assembly is made with high quality. Nothing backlash and creaks. Yes, and in the hand of the smartphone is securely (small dimensions and a plastic body that prevents slipping).

The overall design of the model is extremely simple, but briefly we will go over it:

  1. The front panel has a color touchscreen display, surrounded by large frames (especially on top and bottom). Above the screen is a front camera and earpiece. Below the display there are 3 touch buttons: call the most recently launched applications, “Home”, step back. Unfortunately, there is no backlight on these sensors, so at night you will have to press at random.

  2. On the back cover are only one main camera and a tiny flash module (in the upper left corner). Just below the center is another Xiaomi logo, but it is barely noticeable.

  3. The right side is reserved for the volume rocker and the on / off key.

  4. The left side contains one of the main pieces of the state employee in question. There are 2 compartments for SIM cards here. In one compartment there is a tray for a sim card of the Nano-SIM format. In the other there is a double tray for a SIM card of the same format and a microSD memory expansion card. Agree, such a luxury, as two slots for SIM cards and a separate slot for microSD, is not found in all flagships, so you can only thank the Chinese for this option.

  5. The bottom end is equipped with a microphone, speaker and micro USB connector.

  6. The upper end will please the owner with a 3.5 mm jack and an additional microphone.

Summing up the intermediate result, we can say that the device really looks cheap, but it is assembled with high quality, so there are practically no complaints about the design. A slight negative residue leaves only a quickly dirty plastic case.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: display specifications

Engineers have equipped their budget child with a screen with the following parameters:

Diagonal5 inches
Aspect ratio16: 9
Resolution1280×720 pixels
Pixel density296 PPI
Brightness (typical / minimum)380/330 nit
Contrast1000: 1
Color spectrum72% NTSC

As you can see, the figures are very modest, but given the price of a smartphone, this is quite expected. Overall, Xiaomi Redmi Go has a good display for your money. There are no particular complaints about clarity; color rendering is pleasant. For video and web surfing, such a sensor is enough with your head. The mediocre image quality will be noticed only by those who suddenly decide to switch to this device after QHD or FHD, and there are likely to be few of those.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: technical review

It is time to find out what is hiding “under the hood” of this modest device. In fact, everything is not so bad there:

CPU4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip with a frequency of 1.4 GHz
Graphics coreAdreno 308 with frequency up to 500 MHz
Physical memory8/16 GB + possibility of expansion for another 128 GB
Software shellAndroid Go based on Android 8.1

With such hardware, it is pointless to hope for transcendental results in AnTuTu, but for the sake of interest, the test was still carried out. The hero of our review scored 33199 parrots:

The result is not outstanding, but if you compare it with the figures of other state employees, Xiaomi Redmi Go will be located almost in the middle:

In principle, such performance can be considered decent. Still, the 425th Snapu is already 3 years old; Yes, and it was made on the 28-nm process technology. But the specific shell came Android Go, which was adapted for this state budget. Everything superfluous was removed from it, though the settings were also “cleaned up”, so there are frankly few options in the menu. At the same time, such a sacrifice made the smartphone as fast as possible with the available hardware. When working, the gadget practically does not lag; only micro-friezes are sometimes observed. Moreover, on a smartphone, you can easily run the games of 2012–2014.

Most likely, the device would have more opportunities, but the manufacturers frankly saved on memory. As noted above in our table, the default Xiaomi Redmi Go smartphone costs 8 Gb of physical memory. This is extremely small, but you can solve the problem with a 128 gig card. But 1 GB of RAM can be considered the main drawback of the device. We understand that the model is ultrabudgetary, but the user will have to limit even the number of tabs in the browser, and this is a serious blow to the usability. By the way, the INOI 7 Lite, a review of which we have done recently, also has 1 GB of RAM.

In general, we can put Redmi Go on almost the whole hardware, but select the RAM as one of the key flaws in the model.

Camera budget smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Go

Chinese engineers have installed photo modules with the following characteristics in this phone:

ParameterMain cameraFront-camera
Resolution8 Mp5 Mp
Diaphragmf / 2.0f / 2.2
Pixel size1.12 µm
LED flashthere isNot
Hdrthere is
FunctionalAutofocus, burst mode, timer setting, manual settings, smart scene mode, real-time filtersBeautify profiles, selfie timer

The main camera takes pictures mediocrely, but if you urgently need something to photograph, it will help you:

Also on the main module Xiaomi Redmi Go, you can record videos as 480/720 / 1080p.

The front camera is added to the smartphone for a tick. She will remove the selfie, but it is unlikely that you will enjoy the result.

Network, sensors, autonomy Xiaomi Redmi Gou

The phone supports the following communication ranges:

  • GSM: B2 / B3 / B5 / B8;
  • WCDMA: B1 / B2 / B5 / B8;
  • LTE FDD: B1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B8 / B20;
  • LTE TDD: B38 / B40.

Wireless data transmission is available by:

  • Wi-Fi;
  • Bluetooth 4.1;
  • Wi-Fi Direct;
  • Wi-Fi 2.4G.

You can navigate through the systems:

  • GPS;
  • A-GPS;
  • BeiDou.

In addition, Xiaomi Redmi Go is equipped with proximity and illumination sensors, as well as an accelerometer.

Responsible for the autonomy of the built-in lithium-polymer battery at 3000 mAh. According to official statements, it is enough for 10 days of work in standby mode. Practical application has shown that overnight the device is discharged by only 3% with Wi-Fi on. Hence the conclusion that the claimed 10 days with a minimum load the gadget will stretch. And even if you decide to load it in full, it is unlikely that you will be able to drain the battery in less than a day (after all, the technical stuffing here is not “voracious” and the capacity is substantial).

Advantages and disadvantages of Xiaomi Redmi Go, price

As a rule, we try to treat the budget smartphones condescendingly. However, the hero of our review, we were able to identify not only strengths, but also frankly weak points:

Monolithic design and high-quality assembly (without backlash and extraneous squeaks).Matte plastic case quickly gets dirty.
A very good (by the standards of a state employee) processor that can easily cope with everyday tasks and even draws many undemanding games.No backlight on touch buttons.
The presence of two slots for SIM cards + a separate slot for an expansion memory card, allowing you to increase storage by 128 GB.Few user memory, not enough to fully use a sufficient number of social networks and instant messengers.
Good indicators of autonomy.On board only 1 GB of RAM. By modern standards, this is very small. During operation, the user will have to correctly allocate memory for applications and browsers, which reduces the ease of use.
Low price. Today it is the cheapest smartphone from Xiaomi in the domestic market.

The price of Xiaomi Redmi Go in Russia is 5 550 rubles (1/8 Gb version), 6,190 rubles (1/16 Gb version).

The price of Xiaomi Redmi Go in India is ₹ 4,499.00.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Reviews

There are enough reviews on the web on the smartphone, we have collected the most informative of them: We

bought the first Redmi Guo phone for our son, it has been in use for a month already. In principle, as for such a goal everything is fine! Pulls some toys, works Skype and Viber. Batteries for a day are enough. The son is pleased and we are pleased that the new phone for the money.

Here’s another review:

There is very little memory in the phone – and this is the main disadvantage of the phone. RAM is very small – this is understandable, the phone is budget. But downloading Facebook, Skype, VibER and some other social network at the same time is the limit. This is really a very big minus smartphone.

And one more opinion:

If you miss all the skeptical conversations and take into account that this is an ultrabudgetary, then in principle the phone is not bad. Of course, you need to understand that it will suit more like a more modern dialer with Weiber, a browser and a touch screen.

Taking into account all of the above, we can conclude that Xiaomi Redmi Go is a really good state employee, which is something between a multifunctional smartphone and a simple call. Of course, it is not suitable for people who want to get a wide range of possibilities from the phone, but such a gadget will be just right for retirees, children or simply unpretentious users.
